CCI Minimags?

They are my favourite 22 lr.
My 10/22 eats them like candy:)
They are a bit more exspensive than your bulk packs of federal but are much more cosistant with accuracy.
I just bought 10,000 rnds from my local gun shop.

I have a half dozen different 22s and use only Minimags and Velociters in them. Always shoot well, NEVER misfire and all the guns like them even my 75year old Winchester mod 1906 pump. I dont bother with other 22lr ammo anymore. Always feed, always shoot, always accurate. What more can you ask of a 22lr? :)

Wholesale Sports, Russells and our local suppliers have them. Tried Crappy Tire and Walmart? I cant imagine a gunstore not selling this stuff. Everybody out here stocks about 6 different CCI 22lrs in the stores. Boy its tough living in the boonies eh? Thats what you get for living so close to Liberal HQ. I feel for ya man. Good luck in your quest. Tried any of the Hamilton or Ottawa stores yet?

The CCI, crappy tire has here is stingers and shorts. Local gun store has mini-mags, sub-sonics and CBs only in 100rd boxes.

It sucks not having one store with everything. Velocitors would mean a trip to NS.

CCI make excellent ammo. Velocitors, Stingers and Quik-Shok's are favourites of mine though they're known to be picky about which guns they'll shoot accurately out of.

As with most 22 ammo, stock up because there's never a consistent supply available. Keep a case in reserve at all times :)

I shot a few mini-mags out of my Savage MkII and they are very accurate for the price. I haven't shot any of my high end Lapua yet, but so far the mini-mags are one of my best grouping ammunition.

They also expand very well compared to some of the cheaper hunting hollow points.

the quick shoks make me wet to the knees. I love those little guys! the segmenting seems to work very well, especially for headshots on bunnies. the bullet breaking into 3 chunks really increases the size of hole you put in a target. really makes quick work of apples and oranges too  Ive managed to retrieve some of the segments. they seem to break off into 3 consistant pieces that yaw all over the place when they break apart. The bullet had enough oomf that 2 of the 3 pieces went through both sides of a lexan 1 litre water bottle.

This year Tripalm brought his Chrony along to Saskatchewan and we put a few rounds through it. I fired my CZ and Savage MKII, and he his BRNO. We fired a few rounds of the Federal bulk pack, and CCI ammo. He may be able to chime in and provide more accurate numbers, but I'll go off memory. In all three rifles, velocity hovered areound 1200 FPS, with I think a maximum spread of about 30 FPS with the Federal between rifles. The CCI stuff fluctuated 200 FPS! How can one expect consistancy with a 200 FPS spread? I figure nobody pays attention to it when out in the field, especially with an auto loader. A miss is instantly followed up with another shot till the target is hit. I have always prefered Federal ammo to any other, and since CCI is considered to be some of the premium ammo out there it was an eye opener. Don't let price fool you, you may just be wasting your money.

X2. Federal is as good or better accuracy in everything i own. Seems to be more flyers in the CCI stuff.

Just goes to show you that all rifles are different, since federal shoots like garbage out of my savage mkII. Results from cci for me vary greatly from one type to another. I suggest trying their subsonic offerings.

CCI make a few different 22lr rounds - which one wasn't good? I used CCI standard velocity with "ok" results out to 100 yards, about 2.5" groups. Lapua cuts those groups in half of course but Federal wan't anywhere close. When I chronied CCI "green tag" a few days ago out of my handgun spread was around 30fps which is normal, with most rounds spreading only about 10-15 fps and maybe one in ten being a bit different.

I'd be very interested in knowing what Fedeal ammo you've been comparing to the CCI stuff - and what CCI stuff you were comparing the Federal to! :D After going through all my chrony-numbers on file (a horriffic bunch of manilla-folders, crammed with stats and test-results, for those days I can't be out shooting), I've only found the (much) higher-end Fed stuff to beat out the CCI (in terms of fps spread), and while I can post the figures to that effect, I'm more-than-willing to be "schooled" in terms of what rounds were actually used! :) Let me know?

Again, what CCI-type, and what Federal-type? I'm sure some highly intelligent, unltra-cool CGN'er like, say, 22lr would also be interested in knowing what apples-to-apples comparisons we would be making....;)

Ah....who knew someone was thinking the same thing as me? Anyhow, let's hear it!

P.S. Oddly enough, I can't find any of my CCI Minimag chrony information...
