I am just starting to reload my own rounds. I am aware of the primer shortage that has hit his country from coast to coast.
I have a Savage Model 12 VLP in .223. I do some paper punching as well as hunting with this rifle, the tasks are pretty well split prolly 60/40 for target shooting. Is there that much of a difference between the BR4 primers and the 400 series for accuracy?
I'm loading a 50gr. Varmint Grenade with IMR 4198 powder.

I found some CCI 400 series primers will these do for my application?

Thanks.

Yep. You should buy as many as you can afford too. The primer shortage is all over North America, not just Canada.
You won't see much difference between a BR primer and a regular primer for hunting.

I use 400s or 450s in my 222 all the time, and like Ken, my rifle shoots good enough that I don't see any need to change to a bench rest primer.

im new to relaoidg but i don't think you will notice a difference in your hunting loads....

funny everywhere i go seems to not be hit by the primer shortage:confused:havent had troble finding anyhting yet always lots in stock....
