CCI - Quiet-22LR ammo

I had no idea this product existed. They say its safe for semi-auto but they dont say if it will cycle the action ??

Did someone test them in a 10/22 ?

new product. the vid from showshow showed them shooting it in a revolver so my hopes aren't high :( still going to buy some when i get the chance though

The CCI quiet is designed for bolt, lever action rifle, it wont cycle in pistol or semi-auto carbine. You can fire it of course but wont eject properly.

i TRY it in 10-22 and other semi but always jam, bu its fun to shoot and damn quiet,

last weekend me and my buddies were shooting in -10 or -15, and my buddy with an sr22 cycled a full 10rd mag of cci subsonic ammo with no problems.. i have yet to try it in my own 10/22 but it gave me some hope

I don't think the "quiet" ammo is the subsonic ammo. Someone said it is new. If the ammo is actually quiet and designed to lower the report of the firearm, would it still be allowed in Canada given our absolutely redunculous and nonsensical firearms laws?

i see. are they not very similar though? subsonic is scary quiet (sounds like a tiny "pop" when youre standing 5 m+ away).

The really quiet stuff is called CCI CB Long Subsonic, it's a little bit shorter than the 22LR stuff but man is it quiet. I've heard pellet guns that were louder!

I've heard from others that put a "light recoil spring kit" in their semi-autos to get them to cycle with low powered ammo. But I haven't seen them shoot with this kit installed yet.

Subsonic is a different product with a rated muzzle velocity at 1050 ft/s. The Quiet product is rated at 710 ft/s. I'm guessing it will be inconsistent cycling when shooting from most semi-autos.

Remington has a CeeBee round that is comparable to the CB Long in terms of noise and power. But the projectile is designed to make the round the same length as a LR round. This helps it to feed from some box magazines that don't handle shorter rounds well. It also has a nice hollow point if you want to knock off some varmints quietly at close range. It is very accurate to 25m out of my CZ452, but some have reported a lot of dud rounds in their lot. I have not had any problems.

Remington CBee's are the quietest ive shot, quieter than CCI subs or cb shorts. but not going to cycle a semi without changing some springs

I agree - the Remington CBees are much quieter than CCI's version. In fact, I shot Remington's CBee and Subsonic side by side with CCI's cb and the CCI was almost as loud as the Subsonic.

Effective range or these cb rounds? Still able to take a rabbit?

I have found that the CBees are not as accurate as regular loads. The Subsonics are still much quieter than regular .22 loads, and they pack a much bigger punch than the CBees. You will be restricted to head shots with the CBees - and have to test the accuracy in your rifle to see if you can hit a rabbit's head at 25 yards.

Just to compare, at 50 yards the Subsonic has 79 ft-lbs of energy; the Cbee has 35 ft-lbs. The muzzle energy of the CBee is 40 ft-lbs - or 1/2 of what the Subsonic has at 50 yards! The Remington Thunderbolts have 92 ft-lbs at 100 yards. That should give you an idea - the Subsonics have the same energy at the muzzle as a Thunderbolt has at 100 yards, and the CBees have less than 1/2 that at the muzzle.

I have seen some reviews of the CBee's and things look interesting for it especially the expansion of it's Hollow Points... Are the quiets round nosed?

The Quiets are RN - the CBees and Remington Subsonics are Hollow Point. I haven't tried the CCI Quiets, but as I mentioned I did try the CCI cb - and I liked both Remington products much better.

Did some dB tests a few years ago with my sound pressure meter and the CB Longs are around 74dB at the ears through a Savage Mark II.

The rating for the Quiets is 68dB...cool....will have to try them for sure.
