cci velocitors in a marlin 795

Anyone using these in your 795?If so,what are your likes dislikes?I know marlin doesn't reccomend using hyper velocity ammo in their semi rimfire but at 1435 per sec,i wouldn't think it would harm the rifle.

If you shot a few bricks of it through it i can see it being not good for the buffer... so what, replace the buffer if it breaks. The only other thing i'd be concerned about is the 795's aluminum receiver housing... If it is 100% solid it should be fine, but if there is even the slightest microfracture in the alloy the exaggerated stress from the increased recoil could cause it to crack. Not very likely, but plausible.

I have used them in my papoose a few times and while they were cool for shooting cans and apples, on paper the accuracy didn't compare to other slower brands so i havent used them since.

I wouldn't worry about it. I doubt that hyper velocity ammunition is going to harm any modern rimfire rifle.

The manufacturer has a warning to not use hyper-velocities in the rifle for a reason.

When the rifle wears out before its time, remember to blame yourself and not Marlin.

Don't use stingers in match or target barrels. I found that out the hard way.

That would be one exception.

Marlin also warns that damage or injury may result from using .22 Short, Long, or shot cartridges. While I wouldn't expect proper cycling from any of them, I find that extremely difficult to believe. Such statements cast suspicion on any ammunition warning beyond adhering to SAAMI specifications.

At any rate, if you afford to feed your rifle a enough hyper velocity ammo to wear it out, you can probably afford a new one. To my mind the real reason not to bother with hyper velocity ammunition is that it is more expensive and often less accurate than regular HV ammo.
