Picked up a ammo can at Princess Auto. for $10. Couldn't resist, don't see many 7.62 cans.

It's marked:
400
CARTS 7.62 mm NATO BALL M80
IN 80 CHARGERS
IN 8 BANDOLIERS 3A
OFV 07 066-99

I've got several of the IVI bandoliers with the 7.62 clips.
Is this a Cdn ammo can that the IVI bandoliers would have come in?
Then again, just realized that OFV is the headstamp on that crap Indian ammo.

The IVI clips fit the Norinco M14 - I assume the Cdn FAL (I think thats it) take the same strippers? A NATO standard I guess?

OFV is Indian and M80 is the US designation for 7.62 Ball also same designation used in India. Cdn ammo is C21 Ball.

I bought a 7.62 ammo can at Quinn the Eskimo in saskatoon for 15$ , I couldnt resist. Lower tolerance to cool surplus and now I work at the surpus store in PA and most days find something cool. Today was a sam brown MP belt and holster with the cool shoulder strap that goes through youe epalet. Back to the 7.62 ammo can mine has
05
M19A1
S.O.F.
in raised letters on the end and
200 cartridges
A + in a O nato symbol then 7.62 MM M13
Cartons
1 M62- 4 M80
long unreadable serial number (covered in paint)
on the side. I belive the box was for machine gun cartridges 1 tracer for every 4 ball.

the raised letters on the end indicates the type of can, the other markings on the side indicate that the rounds were packed in cartons and the painted "serial" number is the lot number. If you had a can for a MG it would say "link" somewhere on the box. the 7.62 link I deal with comes 220 rnds per belt.
