Picked this up at a gunshow and just wondered about it's authentisity.
Missing the chin strap , but the price was right for a wall hanging display piece.

I'm fairly sure it's been re-painted the dark OD it is now and the inside is lighter color. Is the proper color paint avaliable ?

It's a Mk. II steel helmet. C.L./C. is the manufacturer Canadian Lamp Company. "78" is the batch identifier and "1942" is the year it was made.

I don't know the answer to the paint question except that early production were a browner shade of khaki and those produced after 1942 were usually a light olive drab.
