CDP / IDPA Provincials

We here in Petawawa at the Pembroke Outdoor Sportsmans club are planning on holding an actual IDPA provincials final sometime in the fall. I am sure that SteveS the IDPA Ontario area co-ordinator or RePete the POSC IDPA rep will chime in here as well with a more specific answer later on. Hope this helps though.

Does CDP / IDPA have "provincials"? Is there such a beast planned for 2007?

Thanks for any info.

IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) is in no way affiliated with any other organization. You have to be IDPA to shoot IDPA. IDPA Ontario is planning a Provincial match sometime in the fall. If there are 75 bonafide IDPA members registered, there can be a Provincial Championship.

There is no such entity as "CDP/IDPA" There is a CDP, and a few other IDPA "style" quasi organizations.

So, please correct me if I am wrong, a person who buys a membership to IDPA (US) is then a "bonafide member"? Not trying to be ignorant, but is there more to it? And would be able to compete at the "provincial match"?

BTW, an Provincial IDPA match would be excellent!

You are correct, a member of IDPA (US) is a "bonifide member" and yes you would be able to compete at a Provincial match. There are actually 3 Canadian Official Affiliated IDPA clubs, with a few more clubs getting their affiliations soon.

There are two clubs in Ontario right now where you can get an Official membership.

Popurhedoff, thanks for the info.
Keep us posted about the Provincials.
The more clubs actively involved in "action shooting sports" is very good for all shooters no matter the discipline.

Keep in mind guys, you do not have to belong to an IDPA affiliated club in order to become an IDPA member. You can join directly through the IDPA website www.idpa.com . The benifit of belonging to an affiliated club is that obviously there will be more shooters nearby, but also your officially affiliated club can generate revenue in order to fix up and procure equipment to better the IDPA events going on at that club. If you just want to join IDPA get ahold of me or one of the IDPA clubs in your area and we will put you on an email list inviting you to IDPA shooting events and classification matches. Remember when you are an IDPA member you are welcome to attend IDPA events at any range anywhere in the world.
