Picked this up this morning.
ce41 Bolt mismatch, no rod or hood, but came with sling, bayonet, and.........
capture papers! Well a photocopy. The vets children wanted to keep the original. Stock has seen better days but it intact, unsanded.
The paper lists the vets name and the items he brought back.
A k98, a bayonet, a Luger and holster, a dress dagger, and dress sword. Good haul imho.
I am not a photographer and my camera was like $100, and I just plain suck at pics. Sorry.

Your camera appears to suck, as you say, but the beauty of this early war K98 makes up for it all! What a fantastic score, thank you for showing us this :)

So you spent x amount of dollars on a vet bring back Kar98k and pennies on your camera...I think I see the problem here :D.

Very nice score, you do not see rifles with their captures papers.

I actually bought one camera in 2005, it was its sheer s**ttyness that got me this camera from the gfs sister for xmas. It just isnt great for close ups. If I get sunny day i can take some better ones, i admit there were rushed as well.

And id way rather buy a gun then a camera!

If you spent the money on a camera, it would only end up obsolete and worthless in a few years. Good decision to buy the K98k! It still isn't obsolete and will only increase in value.

I have read that some late war production K98k's had straw or plum colored extractors due to the metals and heat treatment used? Possibly this is what you have?

I use to think that the plum color extractor was found on RC 98ks . Did they replace the bolt with a RC bolt ?

No, not quite right there.

The plum colored extractors show up on all K98`s, Vet Bring back and RC.

The plum is a reaction with the nickel in the chemicals and when not at the correct temperatures (either too hot or cold) at the time of manufacturing process, the plum color is the result.
