Well after doing alot of looking around,i've decided that my next firearm purchase will be a caesar guerini shotgun.I need a 20 gauge O\U.I'm mostly a waterfowl hunter and the two Caesar shotguns that i'm interested in are both proof marked for steel shot.

I'll probley end up buying the Magnus, which has the case colored reciever and the 7 golden emblems, however I really like the Maxum Model!! But for $5500.00 someone's going to have to get me pretty liquered to spend that on a shotgun.

What sucks about high end shotguns is that no one seem to have them in stock,so there's no where I can go and look at one in person, point it,etc, etc.

Does anyone on here have the guerini maxum model? or any guerini shotgun? How are they? Who in canada has a maxum or magnus guerini in stock?

thanks WJ!

Shooter's choice sells them, ans well as the new shop in Stettler.
I owned a Summit Sporting LTD with 34" barrels, great shotgun....

What shotguns hav'nt you owned? :D

Shooter choice! Thanks for the heads up!

I had to Retire my old spanish 20 gauge sxs last winter......the poor workhorse has been abit of a money pit the last few years,so it was time to hang her up.

I plan on cheating this fall and Hunt with my semi 12gauge Fabarm. However When I see the right 20 Gauge guerini I'm going to take it.

HEY a important question for you...are the reciever's on the guerini shotguns(except the light models) Made from A solid Billet of steel? or are they alloy, potmetal, etc? :)

whats your opinion on the guerini reciever's on the magnus\maxum field models?

The summit is billet steel IIRC, but I'm not sure about the others.
I did shoot a Magnus some time ago, they are all well made guns IMO.
There have been some rumours about soft receivers, but I have never seen that substantiated....

Starting to see lots of them in Trap shooting circles, price is certainly right compared to Krieghoff and Perrazzi, but I have no experience with them.

I had owned a CG Magnus in 28ga (built on a 20 frame) and foolishly traded that off....an act I had regretted since then.

CG shotguns fit/finish + build quality is excellent and has very nice Turkish walnut across the board. The various "light" versions have alloy receivers. There is no basis at all on that rumour concerning the use of soft metal.

Waterfowl guns are usually subjected to more abuse - something to keep in mind when you take that O/U into a duck blind/boat.....beautiful walnut could look equally hideous when exposed to rough conditions.

Good point about the waterfowl Firearms getting more abuse.I hunt ducks in chest waiter's and more often than not my shotgun does get alittle wet.I think i'd have trouble running a CG Maxum out on the lake.Right now it wouldnt phase me,but I know that once I bought it i'd be paraniod to take it on the lake and even possibly semerge it,which has happened to me a couple times as I have tripped and fell completly head to toe in the Drink:D

Banging the walnut stock i'm not concerened about,i'm always very consious of all my firearms because I'm a Wood Nut and all my firearms do have nice walnut.

An option is still the CG Magnus,or to even save a few $$$ I could go with the FAIR Jubilee Prestige....

You got that Right!....They are very Simular to the CG shotguns in the sense of the POW stock,Schnabel Fore-end,woood butt plate....exactley what I want.I also like the fact that I'm close enough to go look at the FAIR's in person and pick the Firearm.

The only thing I like more about the CG is the looks.to me they have a Better looking Reciever's which have Better case coloring, aswell the wood on the CG are more fancy than the FAIR's,however in the same token I'll save a Good $1300-$1500 buying a FAIR rather than a CG.So that does Equal out!

As you know i've been here before....Big Decision!

Eitherway i'm off to the Trap Club for a couple hours!

Re cg

My son has a ceasar guerini Magnus grade 30 inch sporter that he got from shooters choice in Ont. It is one of the best looking shotguns I have seen with great wood and very well done fine checkering. In my opinion this gun makes a perrazzi that costs two to three times as much look like cheap junk. it also handles and shoots well, I ran a 25 at low gun skeet the first time I tried it. I think the built in cast off is a big help. I would not take a gun of this grade duck hunting myself though.

Thats what i'm worried about........I need to hunt waterfowl with a sxs or O\U 20 gauge.I'm useing my semi auto Fabarm 12 gauge this fall, however it's just not the same as getting them with a double barrel 20G.I'm now starting to think that I should maybe get the FAIR,even though I want the CG.I in no way have the $$$ To buy both,so I dont know....I really wish a firearm dealer in southern alberta had some CG Magnus shotguns for me to look at.

Yes the Guerinis are very pretty. And your conclusion regarding Perazzis is understandable if the sum total of all one knows about shotguns is how they look. Pretty is as pretty does. The Guerinis are acceptable value for the money and you do get what you pay for.

Give your head a shake...If how a Gun looks is more important to you than how it handles and how it is made. You don't know Guns.
A Perazzi (I spelled it right) Is twice the price of a CG because it is 3 times the Gun.
I had a chance to check out the new Blaser, CG's and Perazzi's at the Canadians in St Thomas Ontario. The Blasers are nice but the Perazzi's have that "feel" to them the CG's don't even come close.

PO'd with Guerini

I have a nice shiny Guerini Gladius, an auto loader. It has an awesome fit and finish, very pretty engraving, beautiful dark walnut...and it hasn't worked properly since the day I bought it. I took it to the trap range once, light loads, it didn't feed properly and into the field once, regular huntin loads, still didn't feed properly. I contacted the Canadian warranty dealer in Nov of 2009. After much discussion, mostly around had I read the instructions and did I know what I was doing, really a fair question on their part, I was finally told that all their auto loaders had the same problem and Guerini was recalling them and to ship the gun for repair/replace/exchange, which I did on May 4th 2010.
Well, today it arrived back home, after a trip over the pond to Italy and guess what...
it ....still....doesn't....work. It refuses to feed the third shell from the the ramp into the chamber. Guerini says thats it, thats how it works......WTF. If I wanted a 2 shooter I'd have bought a two shooter !! If it only functions two rounds then sell it like that, not as a three round auto loader. When I spend my money on what is supposed to be a good quality firearm, and it obviously has a defect, I expect the manufacturer to stand by their product. I would except exchange/credit/reimbursement...not SOL !!! 18 months..... I'd say their warranty in Canada sucks !!
Now, that is no reflection on their O/U's , I've shot them and they were that same beautiful fit/finish, engraving, etc. As for functionality, well, they all worked ok. But how do you screw up two open ended tubes and an extractor system. In the end...if it doesn't work properly it doesn't matter what it looks like. They need to stick with what they know ..O/U's.
So now I have a new 10/22 for my "troubles" and a semi auto 2 shooter for sporting clays.

Hey Bud! Remember my Blaser S2. Well I had it ordered through R. Nicholls Distributors who is the biggest European Firearms distributor in Canada. They carry the Caesar Guerini's. Give them a call. Good Luck!

He started with R. Nicholls, they put him over to the mother company, that's why the shotty was in Italy.

Guerini's half hearted atttempt to sooth him with a .22 rimfire, worth about 10% of what he paid for the Gladius is an insult, and shows zero class. Never ever will I ever consider or recommend Caesar Guerini to anyone.
