Cedar Springs and Winona???

Cedar Springs is located between London and Windsor. On the shore of Lake Erie, near the city of Chatham and the town of Blenhiem.
Winona is located on Lake Ontario near Stoney Creek.

Mr. Maynard, a question if you will, I should probably address this to the ORA but and informal answer from you will do for now.

I noticed there are only two shoots at Winona this year, seems like a waste of a range. Is this just because there isn't anyone volunteering to organise them. If I were to commit to a few weekends would that help or is this more because of the use the range gets from the military, or more likely the bullet resitrictions. I would like to organise some informal practice days there, especially if we could get some new folk out there to at least try it, maybe a few CGN intro. shoots.

If we could organise something like the BCRA Tactical Shoot that would be cool, where does one start with the ORA?

Jamie Winona was around half way between where we met and the turn-off to Silverdale, you can just see it from the highway. Right next to Fifty Point Conservation Area, QEW & 50 Rd.

Winona range is subject to DND restrictions on ammo, and there is alot of boat traffic from the nearby marina that goes thru the buoys marking the danger zone overshoot area necessitating shooting stoppage. Sail boats really
screw up a match. Practices are a better choice.

One of the guys in the gang I shoot at winona with usually has a marine radio with him... If we can't get 'hold of the offending vessle a call to the police marine unit is sometimes effective...
'One time they(the police) even managed to catch a jet-skier who was repeatedly entering the no-go zone...
You'd think the sound of gun fire would keep people out of the area...

Well maybe the sound of gunfire wasn't enough for him ;) ! Movers are so much more fun than static targets anyway.

I am going to try to make it out to one shoot, but I need to work up a load, with the LTR and its 20" barrel,it will be "fun" to get those little 147 FMJ's moving fast enough, anyone know the BC of Nato ball??

According to my "charts" there's two, 27 May (500-700 practice) & 23 Sep (500-600 practice).

It's closer for you to get to Borden and there's a whole bunch of shoots there.

oh yeah Borden,I can shoot real bullets there...

I will try to make the Sept 500/600 pratice

Jamie

I understand there will be more shooting scheduled for Winona for 2007. The dates listed in the last ORA news letter are tentative, nothing has been booked.
Gunslinger, if you want to get involved in running more practices at Winona, let the ORA secretary know. Show up at the ORA AGM and find out what it would involve. The ORA is always looking for people to run these things.
