Cedar Springs Club Championship will be held on Oct 14-15.
Open to all TR and F Class shooters. Ranges 300-600 both days. You will need 99 rounds to fire the match.
Maximum bullet weight is 147 gr. for both TR and F Class.
Cost is $75 and you do not have to pull targets! If you are not an ORA member add $20 for guest fee.
Barracks will be available.
If you are interested PM me or Syxx15.

Cedar Springs is located in SW Ontario between London and Windsor near the city of Chatham and the town of Blenheim.

You do not have to be a club member or even an ORA member to shoot this match. However if you are not an ORA member a $20 guest fee will apply on top of the match entry fees. Contact me, we might be able to waive this $20 fee.:)
I keep hearing that everyone has these 1/2 minute, out of the box rifles, but I never see one out at these matches:confused:

We will have TR and F Class including F(M)anufactured class. In F(M) class you can shoot a hunting rifle if you like, but please remember the 147 gr bullet rule.
If the two day match is too much shooting, you can even shoot just one day for $40.

OK,
The first 5 CGN shooters that are not ORA members that are shooting 308/7.62, I will supply the ammo. What more do you want? $75 for the weekend, No guest fee, free ammo, no target pulling. Ranges from 300 to 600 yards.

I think windborne11 is poking some fun looking for results.

windborne11 was the top F Class shooter for the Club Championship.
We won't discuss how many rounds he needed to fire to win this, will we Rick? I won the TR.
Both TR and F Class winners walked away with about $250 each worth of 3M products and bragging rights.

max weight of 147gr???sorry but most guys are using 155 to 175 gr....

maybe that is what put alot of shooters off......If you host one again in 07 I will do my best to be there but the 147gr thing kinda sucks I will need to redo a range card for a bullet that I never shoot

The 147 gr bullet isn't our rule. Some moron that works for the DND decided that one. 147's have the same come ups as 155's or at least close enough to keep you on paper from 300 to 1000 yards.

Hi Tom,

147gr max! The lawyers who run that range are trying their best to run you guys out! First they close the 1000yd line and now this?! What is next, close down the 600 yd line since it's not used by the military? Are other ranges in Ontario affected by this silly restriction? Are there any match bullets in that weight or below? Maybe some enterprising soul can make match 147gr bullets and call it the Cedar Springs Match King :)

As a matter of fact, we were told this past summer that the DND is considering closing down the 500-800yd lines at Winona & building a mess hall & bunks house out there, because all of their combat is at close range & they don't need that many long ranges to train their snipers. But then again 2 yrs ago they told us Winona would be shut down for the 2006 season to install drainage and convert it to 700 metrers.

Since Harper's party won the last Federal election and they are supposedly more firearm-owner friendly, some letters should be sent his way asking him to sent a word to the DND that it is no longer 'your Liberal' DND and to become more friendly to gun clubs!

Steve, if it was only that easy. Hey, welcome to CGN. Are you still in Ohio? I haven't heard from you in a while.

Cheers
Tom

Steve, that would explain why you have not been to Cedar Springs lately. I guess you are off the hook seeing that Seattle might be a long commute.
Cedar Springs and Winona are the only ranges the 147 rule comes into play.
I seems someone that thinks he knows all about ammo states 147 only have a velocity of 2800fps. That is true out of a 20 inch barrel, however we didn't tell them the same round will get 2950 or better out of a 30 in tube. Next thing they will want to do is restrict barrels to 20 inches.

The DND asked us for the details of our rifles:
  • make
  • model
  • barrel lenght
  • bullet weight
  • muzzel velocity
The DND would then tell us whether or not it fit the range template for Winona.

Most of us have reverted back to .223's with 69's or 80's, but there is a small supply of 7.62 IVI and even some DA available.

Tom,
Going to the .223 makes a lot sense. The 80's is a much better bullet than any 30cal FMJ. Another excuse to get another rifle :)

Holy Crap! Don't ever tell them about the 140gr 6.5 bullets for F-Class. The BC on those pills will blow the .30 cal 147gr.

DND = Dumb and Dumber

SShhhhhhhhhh!!!!!. They are the "ALL-KNOWING" remember.
