Well I got a Bushnell 20-60x65mm the eye relief isn't the best. I tried to take video with my phone but the digital zoom was just blurry. My phone films in HD, so was sad..So I thought it would be cool to mix a phone camera with the optical zoom of the spotting scope. I ended up finding this adapter for 20$ something on amazon that you can clamp onto any scope..

This is 32ft, 20x with 4x digital zoom on a old samsung Ace 2 the lightest phone I had.

Just clamps to your eye piece. I had to tape the focus knob because it kept on turning.

Its soo much nicer just to quickly look over. Also I can take pictures, video and review. It could probably fit on a rifle scope but I think it might fall off. But maybe 22LR. Its easy to fall off, I tried it on my Mauser but as soon as cycled the action it came off.

Ive yet to test it on the range but so far impressed.

Uploading the pictures taken from the camera on the scope.

Here are the photos from the phone it self.

20x no digital

That's pretty cool idea. I got the same spotting scope as well and I find it would be nice to just look over at the phone to see my hits instead of trying to get the right eye relief to see down the line.

What's the name of the accessory you picked up?

Called Solomark. Universal Mobile Phone Camera Adapter. It was 22.64 with free shipping came in about 15 days.

If you got the same spotting scope. You might want to tape the focus ring. Because when I didn't it moved around a lot. I just wish the cup was deeper so it would secure better. But that could also be due to the rubber eye cap.

Cool. Thanks for the link and tip.

Hmmm. Looks like a whale of an idea. I have a BODELIN maginifying attachment for my iPhone and/or iPad. Wonder if I could get it to work on my spotting scope. I find it a major pain in the butt to scrinch down and try to find the target. I have been contemplating getting one of these:

View attachment 49797

With our worthless dollar, it will be around $500. If it works like they say, up to 300 yards, I wouldn't mind trying one.

That is way better than my contraption.

Only advantage I have is that my phone stays in the otterbox. Which might still work on that set up.....

Digiscoping has been used by bird watchers and other wildlife for a long time. A digital camera coupled to a spotting scope provides tremendous magnification at a relatively low cost compared to camera lenses . The quality of smartphone cameras is moving digiscoping to new levels.
The one issue I have had is the shutter release , causing camera movement . Is anyone using a Bluetooth remote to control the smartphone camera?

Self timer set to 2 or 10 seconds...

I might try and glue extension on the grabbers. Sorta like that other one shows. So it grabs more of the eye piece and be more secure. I tried mounting it on a TRS 25 clone and worked but needs more grip. You can knock it off pretty easy. I wouldnt do any action shooting with it.

Or I can try and get a ABS pipe and slip it over like a scope cap and glue the locks and collar.

I have used the 2 -10 sec timers , but unfortunately it is not fast enough for my application and activation can induce movement/ vibration into the scope.
Subjects can exit the frame in 2sec , so I require a very fast trigger speed and am looking at a blue tooth remote for a smart phone.
The BTR would also allow for multiple frames , over a short period without touching the set up.
Mode switching from photo to video would be done by the remote .
