I know there are not a lot of guys from N.S. on here but I was hoping someone could help me find an answer to a question.

Can I use my m-305 with a 10 round E-lander magazine while hunting? Federal laws allow the mag but I was wondering if any provincial ones forbid it? The lower profile of the mag makes the rifle easier on the back while carrying and slung.

Here's the provincial regs I found and I don't see much regarding mag capacity.

I would post this on a N.S. site but that would only start a Fudd war. ;)

Best answer is to call the CFO or DNR. If you do better keep a print out of the bulletin because not sure if CO are all upto date on the loopholes.

Scared to call them in case they are unfamiliar and decide to make a ruling which invariably goes against us! (mild sarcasm)

Thinking I would have to speak to DNR as the CFO would probably be more concerned with federal laws.

I think it would be okay as long as you only load what the firearm act for a semi auto centerfire. 5 +1.

the mag must be pinned so it will only hold 5 rounds. illegal to have a mag with a capacity over 5 in a semi auto centerfire. if it was a bolt, lever, pump you could use the 10 round mag. federal firearm law.

Umm proprietary mags. E Lander 10rd mags are for M305/m14 as LAR-15 10rd mags are for AR15s.

No, it's illegal to have a magazine, in or out of the gun, if the magazine was made for a semi-auto centrefire unless it was made with a maximum capacity of five rounds or it has been modified, in a way that is not easily reversed, to have a maximum capacity of five rounds. That's a prohibition under federal firearms regulations. In effect, if the magazine was not made for a semi-auto centrefire and it has a capacity of more than five rounds it is not prohibited under federal firearms regulations and if you can find a rifle that is semi-auto and the magazine works in it, you can use it in that semi-auto.

Hunting regulations are another matter. They are made by each province. Ask the provincial department or ministry that regulates hunting in your province for clarification on magazine capacities permitted or prohibited while hunting.
