Sup guys. first time poster here.

Recently me and my buddy have just recieved our PALS, both non-restricted and Restricted, and as the thread title suggests, does anybody know of Ranges in Toronto/GTA area that are Centerfire rifle friendly? Me and my buddy have been pulling our hair out trying to find one but it seems that all the ranges around here seem to only allow Pistol Calibers or .22lr. this is very discouraging as i was hoping to get a CZ 858 as my first gun, however if there isnt a range nearby that doesnt allow 7.62x39mm then i cant get it cause i wont even be able to use it :(

so can anybody help me out here? any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

also, before someone says something, yes i've been told i should get a .22lr rifle as a first gun, but honestly i feel the little rifles are almost toylike and they don't really interest me. which sucks for me as i may have to settle for one if i can't find a centerfire friendly range :(

Silverdale. Best range within a decent drive. On site shop, Free targets, trap shooting, outdoors, action range for pistols, 25 - 200yds for rifles, even a bow and arrow range. Lots of nice people who are willing to help a newb. You will not be dissapointed. If you wanna come shoot lemme know. Check their website.

^^ X2 ^^

The archery range is no more. It is now a secondary action range.
As an additional side note - The CFO has deemed Silverdale the premier range in Ontario by which all others will be judged.

Burlington rifle and revolver club also allows centerfire. Only draw back is the 50yrd max (but it is indoor no rain or snow to deal with, also warm now that new heaters are in) 24hr access to boot. I shoot my lee enfield and sks there all the time.

Oshawa Skeet & Gun club. Rifle range is up to 300m. Allows pistols too. I haven't gone much (new member late last year). But I see ARs and SKSs every time I go (including me sometimes). It's just a pain blasting 3 different firearms and having to clean 'em. lol

Oshawa is great club if Silverdale is too far for you.

Here's their homepage. Rates are up to date and very fair. Only beef is the initiation fee, but once initiated, it's good for life even if you let you membership expire.

BTW, I refuse to buy a .22lr rifle. SKS is my plinking rifle. Which reminds me, I should stock up on another crate of surplus ammo before the unthinkable may happen (OOS or price increase).

???? You won't get far at our range with that sort of attitude.

.22lr is for killing grouse, rabbits, and squirrels. At the range fun and .22lr just aren't the same things in my book. Hell there not even on the same page. I admit I shot a lot of 22lr when I first started out for practice, but once I started reloading and bought a 9mm AR and a Marlin lever in .44 mag I sold all my .22's.

22lr

...but they certainly aren't toys...
Having said that, advice is just that...advice,find what works for you, not what someone else thinks is good for you.
