Central/north ontario long range club?

So hear me out…

I’m sure I’m not the only one in central Ontario with an interest in long range but no where to actually shoot long range. My range is limited to 200m at my club.

I’m in the Barrie area.

Here’s what I’m thinking…let’s get a group of guys together with an interest in long range shooting, find a good chunk of crown land up north that we can shoot at distance, have whole weekend outings where we can go up and camp out, have a good time.

My friend and I are going to try to plan something for the new year, maybe start scouting some spots.

I feel if we can get a good group of guys together it could be a great time.

Sounds like a great idea. Plenty of central and northern ON folks already do this for the rifle shooting needs.

Nothing a few million dollars wouldn't solve. Finding property is only the start. Then municipality approval, CFO approval, clearing land, fencing, signage, road access, insurance etc. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I think the first step would be to contact the CFO and find out what the requirements are for such a range. I do know that the Safety Template/Danger Area for a local DND range is 2900m beyond the backstop.

That being said, I see that you are in the Barrie area. There is a 1000 yard range less than 1/2 hour from your door at CFB Borden.
