A revitalization of the M16A1 sold by Century. MSRP $800 (in the US)
Uses original M16A1 upper and a special semi-auto only lower to comply with BATFE regs. M16A2 grips and the takedown pins are in different locations, other than that it is nearly identical to the original M16A1s.
Anyone know if they are coming to Canada? I'd buy one of these real quick if they retained a real price of less than $1000, but somehow I don't see that happening...

I handled one at a gun show in Arizona, there's more to it than that, the bolt carrier is different, also to comply with the law. I assume they're made from the parts kits they were selling, which I heard were Chilean Army surplus? They've been hanging around in their bonded warehouse for ages so they sold them off as parts.

Under ATF's revised interpretation of 18 USC 925(d)(3) the barrels are not importable either, the barrel on the one I looked at definitely wasn't original, the dealer said it was 1/9 twist and it did not have any markings on it. Given that the barrel isn't original, the bolt carrier isn't (or at least has been altered), the trigger mech isn't original, the grip isn't original and the lower isn't original, it's definitely not a semi-auto M16A1, it's just a miscellaneous AR-15.

My main concern was the barrel, it looked very unspecial. Anyway I couldn't buy it so meh.

Thanks, it seems I have fallen victim to semi-false advertising (or rather the selective deletion of certain bits of information regarding the rifle.)
In that case, if it doesn't have that many original parts and the quality of the replacement parts is dubious, it doesn't really seem very special at all.
