cerakote coating in canada

are there any gunsmiths in canada that do cerakote coating? what is the cost? tks. Colin

We use Ceramicote, which is the same as Rogard coating used by Rbar Industries.
Very durable, comes in several colors.
Cost on a bolt action rifle is $200.00 to strip any old finish from the metal and refinish it. The only parts that can not be done is the bolt body and trigger parts

Are you referring to "Roguard" as per Robbie Barrkman's company? If so, do you ship it south or do you have the ability to do it here, or are you just using the same stuff?

Cerakote can be used io the bolt parts!
Blue Mountain sports in NB does it, cost me $300 ish to do an over/under.

I am sure his number can be googled or you can PM rgwhitman on here.

Using the same product, and application technique.
To ship it down to be coated would be a nightmare, not to mention cost prohibitive.

Hey ATR

How come the bolt body can't be done? Bits of Pieces in B.C. does gunkote, how does this compare to the 2 coatings mentioned above?

Maybe it can on loose tolerance bolts, but the 1 Nesika action I tried it on , we could not get the bolt to move easily when put into the action.
We had a royal ##### of a time getting it off, so do not want to go through that again.
Ceramicoat it several times harder and more abrasion resistant than GunKote.
I say this as GunKote comes off easily with glass bead blasting, Ceramicoat takes ALOT more work to remove.

what about armacoat?

No teflon'ish stuff in it, but I've heard its pretty durable and hardens pretty good if you either give it enough time or bake it.

I'm planning on giving it a try.

I was looking for a finish I could apply myself at home that would look decent and hold up to average use. I have an Rem 700 action I was planning on bead and/or sand blasting prior.

If you have another finish I can apply myself, I wouldnt have any issue giving it a try.

The Armacoat I have is the same application type as the Ceramicoat. Spray and bake. Any HVLP sprayer will work, the trick is the 36" or longer oven.
I would not suggest "sand blasting", bead blasting with glass media is the better way to go.

ATR what colors are available?

I have a couple of varmint rifles that need to have a more durable finish.

I live on the wet coast and am tired of messing around with preventing rust... :(

What is cerakote? I know of both teflon coating and powder coating but have not heard of this.

tks

Stop by sometime I can show you, we are in the same village.

CampCook
I use alot of Matte black, duh, OD green and sand tan. Other colors are available.
There are many more colors like safety orange, blue, red and yellow as well as most heavy equipment colors, as it is used alot on machinery due to the durability.
