I thought I'd share something my Dad wrote a few months before he passed away. Dad was a competitive target shooter before I was even born, and competed at Bisley for the Canadian Team in 1968.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION OF EXCUSE
Know all men by this certificate that Doug ###### hereby registers the following excuse for all rotten shots.
That as a result of a visit to a registered opthalmologist (name supplied upon written and notarized request) on 14 July 2005, it has been established that he, Doug ######, has cataracts in both eyes, and macular degeneration in both eyes. So there.
The aforementioned excuse (whether believed or not) shall be retroactive for 6 months (182 days) from the date of this certificate, and shall remain in effect until cancelled or laughed out of court. It shall also be applicable to all scores of less than medal value, and shall specifically include crossfires and turning the knobs the wrong way.
Registered the 15th day of July, 2005.
