Being the OP, thought maybe I would change the subject a little.
I was under the impression cartridge conversions were verboten?
I passed on a few deals because of this. :(

The issue would be the date of conversion; if done before 1898, then there would be no question. Even after 1898, it is the frame which defines the gun and its antiquity so as long as the conversion caliber is not on the no go list, it should also be antique

you can convert an antique percussion revolver to cartridge today and it will still be legal as long as,as moncoon said,the converted caliber is not on "the list"
the date it was converted has nothing to do with it afaik
