CFE 223 in a 35 Whelen

So I’ve been reading about people using CFE 223 in the 35 Whelen and getting faster speeds out of it. I found some CFE 233 at the local gun store, but I can’t seen to find any data on it. Anyone try this and has information on it. Thanks in advance.

This is from 24hr campfire site. I had similar results with a Mod 70 Win, which I later rebarreled to 338-06

I suspect they were 250 grain bullets.

There's a thread at the bottom of the page, https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2146940-9-3x62-load-data, where the OP is experimenting with CFE 223. The .35 Whelen isn't far removed from a 9.3, so might be a place to start.

Speer has the data you are looking for, min 57.9@2451 max 64.1@ 2664 with 250 grain bullet. I stopped at 62 grains and 2600 fps with 250 gr partition. Got to 2710 fps but my recoil tolerance for follow up shots was at the 2600 load. Rem 700.

Maybe not, but cfe223 is still obtainable...

If you cannotfind CFE 223, give Leverevolution a try. It is very simillar; some say identical. I use it in 9.3x57 with 285 gr. Bullets. Results are outstanding.

Have a look, you might be surprised. I've switched to Alliant PP2000 and I'm getting velocities I could only dream of with Varget.

I’ve loaded my Whelen with it and didn’t bother getting the magnetospeed out to check the speeds as I couldn’t get the accuracy I wanted with 250gr loads.

I always end up back with my 4064 in my Whelen!
