I just bought my first restricted firearm, the dealer sent in the transfer application to the CFO. It's been 72 hours and I havn't heard from them yet. How long does it usually take for a transfer to go through on a restricted firearm?

I am in BC but have not bought a restricted for about a year. Every time I have in the past is has taken a day or so for a private sale and a few hours if from a dealer.

Hmm, I didn't have a long term ATT in place so maybe that's what's slowing it down. I sent in the application for ATT the same day (by mail) as I put in the order so that might be the issue.

It takes 2 to 5 business days in BC for restricted, long term ATT should be in place at the time. Could take 2 weeks for ATT and I would expect that you have to wait that long for your restricted approval.
