Well, I just noticed that the draft rules for CFSAC 2009 are up on the Army Competitions Web site. Some minor changes in a number of places, but the big one is the change to Match 4, which is now a mover shot on a Fig 11.

http://armyapp.forces.gc.ca/CAC/natmilskil_e.asp

This is draft only, so maybe that rule change will be deferred til next year so the teams will have some time to actually practice it before launching for real.

Other changes,
- no rucksac or other bags etc allowed on the firing mound at all.
- spotting scopes are only allowed during deliberate matches, not allowed for the snaps and rapids (binos are ok throughout).

how many ranges are set (properly) up for movers.

Many of the ranges are being covered over now, like D Range at CRPTC,, you can't do movers on those.

The biggest pain is trying to get everyone in the Butts on the same timing,, time is wasted doing practice moves just before the match. Big time waster. Match 4 is challenging enough as it is.

This was tried in Match 2 back in 2002,, it was ditched when they resurrected CFSAC.

Other draft changes I see are:
- webbing/TacVest must weigh at least 7.5KG (16.535 pounds)
- Spotting scopes banned, except during deliberates.
- no rusksack or other kit allowed on the mound.

I'm ok with those changes, but I think Match 4 changes should be deferred til next year or ditched all together.

Sounds like someone is trying to copy Bisley rules.I'm not sure I see the point about spotting scopes.
I totally agree on match 4.I can't find the proper section in the link. What is it under?

only way to make it work would be to automate the range. There are lots of choices for lifters and movers, might as well throw on the ATS LOMAH kit too no one can complain about the scoring then, and think of the time you save no butts parties..... Its only money :D

I wonder if body armour counts as part of that 7.5 kg?

As for standing movers at 100, shooting will be the easy part, the circus in the butts will be the problem.

The mover shouldn't be a problem as long as a couple trial exposures are presented so competitors can get a feel for the movement.

In 2002, Match 2 was a kneeling mover at 200m on a fig 12.... there average was around 35, but there were also may who scored 47/48/49....

They also made Match 2, kneeling only that year, which accounted for some of the lower scores.

I haven't tried it yet, but I think this will make Match 4 a little too easy, with overal scores getting higher. Might be tougher to get a possible because the Bull is not as wide, but the Inner area is Double the size. Perhaps a lot more scores in the mid 40s.
Bigger target overall, and double the time to take the shot.

Just noticed another suttle change to Match 4 from last year.

Last year: Can be more than one shot per exposure, up to a total of ten shots; This year: One shot per exposure. The firer may fire only one shot per exposure, to a maximum of 10 shots.

So, no catching up in this match if you get a stoppage or other problem.
