I'm in the market for a new coyote gun and have found a great deal on a 270 caliber rifle. The only thing is that I know very little about this caliber. I looked at the balistics for the round and it appears to be accurate to 300 yards. I would like to know your opinions of this caliber. Is it a caliber that is going extinct? will i have trouble buying ammunition? will it work as a coyote gun? I was also having trouble finding 270 ammunition that i could compare against the .223 and the 22-250 ammuntion. are they around the same price? please any information would be helpful as I have to have my mind made up by friday morning

There is lots and always will be a 270 rifle and ammo but as previous poster said, it is a little on the heavy calibre for coyotes, but if a good deal buy it, what model and what price would give every body a better idea, 22-250 is the way to go for a dog gun, less recoil as the 270 can kick you around pretty good unless you built like Godziila. Just my thoughts.

Will the 270 work as a coyote rifle, yes, however, it is very loud, more expensive to shoot, and much more powerful than needed.
The 270 is at its best as a longer range deer/bear/sheep rifle, with moose being on the list as well, although IMO there are better choices for moose.

Beautiful ?..........it looks like something that a Pimp would pair up with his pearl gripped auto.

Oh man, that was freakin' pricless. Pimp......oh man.....

.270 is accurate out past 300m trust me, but I'd stick with the smaller 257 cals. (Roberts and Savage) with light (75 to 87gr) bullets and down. Buy a 223 and go have some fun.
