Joined the Cadets when the enfield was still in service there. By the time I got to the reserves the FN was being loaded in to the surplus and the shinny C7 was making a debut. The FAC was piece of paper you got at the Police station after brief chat with the fireamrs officer. It was typed and folded in four. Thats where I kept my 4 leaf clover. We use to go to the Oshawa bluffs and shoot to our hearts contents with everything from ak47's, AR's, AKMs, G3s, FN's you name you could find it there, There was always a fresh car there to aim onto and no one complained if your burst were to long. No one ever got hurt and you always left with a big smile on yer face. My favorite back then was Norinco AKM with a 76 round drum.
Once I left the service and left firearms behind. For close to 15 years or so.. My FAC expired.. Here and there you would heir. Ontario sporting supplies shut down, big long gun ban and confiscation. But it was no interest to me as I no longer shared in the hobby. Few years ago decided to take up sport shooting as a hobby again and since I dont golf and loved shooting back then. Why not.
It gives me no pleasure to tell you how disgusted I am on what happend over the last 15 years in the sport shooting world. It amazez me the legality and formality of it all. Forget about going to a place doing some plinking. Who knows who you will offend and what laws you may break. My range just installed cameras on every range to keep an eye on us for CFO...
I'm not a member of any anti gun legislation associations like the NRA but want to join them all, badly. So please feel free to send me some links. I whole heartadly believe we should have open and conceal carry here in Ontario for law abbiding citizens, if we so choose to.
My primary interests with firearms include recreational sport shooting.
Currently I'm employed as a breeder and trainer of dogs. Have done this for the past 8 years. My name is Martin my friends call me Marty. Thanks
