I need to buy bulk 12 Ga. ammo to feed the beast. I usually get Federal, Remington, Fiocchi etc. the usual suspects.

There seems to be good pricing on Challenger and/or Prairie shot ammo but I know nothing about these brands.

Does anyone have any feedback on this ammo? Any info is appreciated.

The Saskatoon Gun Club uses Challenger as club loads for members. They are well liked, I have not heard complaints. I was just shooting there yesterday for the season opener, lots of Challengers used and lots of clays broke. I called the company a couple years a go about reloading the hulls, they are made by Cheddite so you can use any Cheddite reload recipe if that matters.

First off, challengers represent probably 50% of the shells shot at my club. However be careful of using them in an O/U with angled firing pins as there have been regularly pierced primers for some of the people at my club, myself included. I've never had an issue with other primers, only cheddite and 1-2 pierced per box in my winchester 101. I don't shoot them anymore, but a lot do and there are virtually no problems with them otherwise.

Challenger prarie shot is the only shell that my 870 express doesnt like. I get a fte about twice in a box of bird shot and every 3rd ish in the slug variety. The rim seems a bit more rounded than other brands of shells. My extractor seems to skate right over the rim. If no one else is having issues its probably my shotgun, but its funny how its only challenger brand stuff.

Challenger and Prairie Shot are two different brands.

i bought a bulk load of the prarie shot slugs from ammosupply and 500rnds of challenger target load from local gun shop. issues with both brands. haven't used prarie shot target shells or challenger slugs. Federal target loads i've had no issues and tends to be a few bucks cheaper. i want to like em and i'd pay the extra few bucks to support a canadian company, but they're just not working for me 100%.

I've had most luck with challenger ammo! It's great stuff, brass loads, cheap and easy to find. I like shooting the light loads with my SXP and target loads for any semi I have. I would highly recommend challenger ammo to anyone
