I can get in on a bulk buy for a good price, i have never used them but am happy they are Canadian made. But how well do they work? Is my question, thank you in advance.
Some picky semis won't like them because they're low-brass, but that's what you get without paying big coin. That said, my brother's MPA-TS runs fine with them.
I shoot about 2 flats a month of Challenger 12 ga . #8 light loads when I can get them, regular 1 1/8oz #8 of #9 if I can't get light loads. I have shot some 20 ga. but find they are a little too hot for my sub gauge tubes.
I like them fine for snapping clays. It seems to be one of the few brands that goes on sale. I usually pick up 6 or 8 flats at a time, more when they are 65/flat
I like them in my Remington semi. Had cycling issues with Winchester but not with the Challenger.
The club I belong to group buys them for our members who want them so they get used a lot at our range.
Seen 3 jams in the past 6 months with Challenger target loads. 2 spent shells from my O/U would not eject so I had to MacGyver something in the field and the other was a fellow at the range with his 870. Looks like the brass expanded or was too soft and jammed in there. Other than that no issues.
I used to shoot flats of them. Unfortunately I bought an O/U that pierces the cheddite primers in the lower barrel occasionally so I stopped using them. They are great otherwise- clean, cheap and available everywhere around here.
I like the target loads but I wouldnt ever buy the steel loads again. I didnt like how they performed and I had a shell fart out the end of my barrel, virtually dropping a wad and pellets on my feet and leaving a real foul smelling sludge like residue stuck to the inside of my barrel. The 3.5" shells are a sad excuse for 3.5" as they are closer in length to a 3" shell. Not what I had in mind when I made the purchase
