Hey I`m going to challenge both courses next week and I am wondering if there are any little tips you guys have (I`ve read through the manuals and watched the videos on the CFC website) just any little snidbits they try to catch you on ;)

A good thing is too visually/exadurate each step of ACTS and PROVE. For example, for Observing the chamber and Verifying the feed path, stick your finger in the chamber and mag/magwell (if present) to show you are checking them. Also, try not to get anxious. I failed my first practical because i was nervous and forgot to do the whole ACTS and PROVE. Also, do not point the gun at the instructor, Its a immediate failure. Its not easy to do on the Non-restricted since your only dealing with long guns, but o the restricted its a lot easier. Some instructors might overlook it if you preformed acts and prove beforehand (which you ALWAYS do whenever you pick up a firearm, they will test you by telling you to put the firearm down ad picking it up again).

OK, so if I ACTS and PROVE a firearm, they tell me to put it down and pick up that same gun I ACTS and Prove again... that would have caught me

Thats a good tip, also, be very careful not to sweep yourself with the pistol/revolver. This is probably the #1 reason for failing the CRFSC

They are both very easy as long as you know whats in your manual. For your practical, just make sure you know how to handle all the weapons, use ACT and PROVE with EVERY firearm, and leaving the action open when you set it down isn't a bad idea either. The instructor will give you a safe direction in which the firearm may be used. If you point elsewhere, you loose points. If you cross the instructor or anyone else automatic failure. Just remember ACT and PROVE and you will be fine. Beat it into your head so you will never forget.
