Challenging the test for a PAL

good luck on the test I am sure you will do fine.
I had to do mine last spring.
I am unsure why you want to take pictures of yourself w/ you.
You will have to pass the test.
they then send to the provincil firearms office (1 month)
then you send your application in w/ pictures. (2 months)
that is when you need a passport stlye photo.

Good luck

Almost all of the test, practical and written, is based on ACTS and PROVE, so make sure you demonstrate them. You won't need to bring a photo with you for your test.

Thanks very much guys, I was unsure.:)

The age that I am, if I can't pass this test, 70 years of my life have been wasted.:(

The PAL Test - a piece of cake

I challenged the test this afternoon and only missed two T/F tricky questions;)

So all my years paid off.:D

Now I have the wait and the clock is running.

SOF

P.S. If I had blown the test, SOF would have stood for Silly Old Fool, not

Just a warning to less long in the tooth folks, take this training , its great,.
And you may have input thats helps others, or they may, in any case you will have a look at the other guy or gal around you and pickup on any safety issues or handling skills that also work for you...;)

Thank you, Levi, for the warning for newbies. I hope that my thread does not convince newbies to go in cold. While common sense helps, it will not get the test passed. So, by all means, take a course. Even with my long familiarity with the subject, I was fooled by two T/F questions.

So, kids, listen to your teacher, do your homework, before you go.

Solid advice.

I had been handling, and owning, firearms for most of my life starting at age 8 with my first single shot .22.

I took firearm safety training when I was 12.

I allowed my FAC to lapse back in 89 (long, sad story involving a woman who hated guns) and got my PAL back about 6 yr's ago. I challenged the exam after looking over the book. I did the same for my RPAL less than a year ago. In both cases, I didn't feel I needed a full blown course due to my previous experience and training. Once I knew "ACTS" and "PROVE" I felt confident doing the exams. I passed with flying colors in both cases on the first attempt.

I wouldn't recommend this approach to anybody who's completely green to firearms and the safe handling of them. You'd likely fail when confronted with types of shell casings. If you don't know a center fire from a rim fire and aren't able to distinguish one calibre from another. Or a pistol from a rifle round...etc...you would fail.
