chamber casting

I'm having a real bad time trying to develop a load for one of my rifles.
I would like to take a casting of the chamber to get measurements I can work off of. Is this difficult to do oneself and any idea where one can pickup material and instructions to do it properly.

Brownells will sell you cerrosafe, which is the easiest (and safest) material to use. They also have instructions, or you can google the procedure online. - dan

A chamber casting won't help with load developement. Cerrosafe is the stuff to use though. You put a piece of steel wool in the chamber, fill it with the Cerrosafe and let it cure.
What cartridge/rifle are you working on a load for?

It won't help him develop a load but it will tell him if he's wasting his time and would be better off having a smith do some work to it.
