you can also use ordinary bore brushes as chamber brushes, depending on calibre- for instance, the 308/30.06 series has a diameter of .470, so a 45 cal brush will work, but a bigger one would work better- just get out your reloading manual and look at the cartrige diagrams- anything a little bigger than the width of your cartridge walls will work-if you're using a bolt, a standard length of rod( i use the last section of the rod) will work for the handle- just plunge it in , pull it back out and rotate till you go full circle- that's how you clean the m16 series, and it works just as well with bolts
with levers, autos, and pumps, you have to be a little more inventive- you need a couple of sections of cleaning rod- cut one to just a couple of inches - that's going to be your extension so you can get the brush into the chamber- it's a bit of trial and error on length, but ALUMINUM cuts easy- use a section with the end already drilled and tapped for the brush or another section- cut it off short and die the end- then take another section of rod and drill the SIDE ( i used a piece of 12 guage cleaning rod for this bit) and tap accordingly and you've got your chamber cleaner- in other words, it's a cleaning rod with an extension and a 90 degree handle- then you put the rig in through the ejection port with the bolt locked back and work it till you get full circle- if you've got a remington pump or auto, there's a special brush you get with the rifle for the chamber
