What all do you use to clean the chamber of your rifle?

I was wondering of a 12 gauge bore mop or nylon brush wrapped in a patch would work? I'm thinking a short non turning rod?

The chamber in question is 30br.

Thanks

Bore mop works great. Not sure if you need or want it to be 12 gauge. That sounds too large to me. 50 cal would be a better fit. Soak it with solvent and let it sit in the chamber for a bit. Rotate, exact, dry patch on a nylon brush, inspect.

Would you use a 50cal brush as well?

If you have a proper load, the 30BR stay clean as a whistle. A bit of carbon in the neck area but almost nothing.
A bore mop in .45 caliber will do followed by a 30 caliber for the neck.
Thats all this is needed.

I have shot several thousand of rounds of 30BR and never once turned attention to cleaning the chamber. Guess it gets cleaned a bit as the barrel patches pass through.

Im just looking to give it a quick clean before using it , after having it bedded and such just more of piece of mind than anything.

Wrap the thin end of a nylon gun cleaning brush with a cotton patch and turn a few times in the chamber.

I use 410 mops on short rods I have made or bought. The easiest short rod, an aluminium arrow shaft with thread insert. Cut to length and put whatever you desire on the end for a handle. Can be made for basically nothing if you stop by an archery shop as they usually have tons of arrows in the trash bin....

I wrap my mop as well with a shotgun patch and stuff it in the chamber and rotate. I also used canned air after cleaning so of there are any pesky brush bristles left, they're blown away.

Lugs are always cleaned as is the bolt. Thin coat of oil applied to bolt and grease applied to lugs, extraction Cam and firing pin ramp.

For my .308s ... I use a Pro-Shot bore mop made for the AR10 - it's good for soaking up any lose fluids and light cleanings (dust and grit mainly), and gets into the lugs a bit. Iosso makes a good AR10 chamber cleaning brush for heavier cleaning if you need it (the AR15 bolt cleaning brush works here as well). A .410 bore mop also works for the chamber. A 12 gauge bore mop works for wiping out the inside of the action - be careful for any material catching on edges of bolt releases or triggers.
