Anyone ever had a reamer repaired / reground in Canada? Or are my only options to send it to Manson or JGS in the states?

I "inherited" a 45ACP reamer that someone managed to damage pretty badly. Badly enough I doubt it will ever cut another chamber. I may need to use it in the future and a reamer that can't be used isn't of much value to anyone. :(

Never heard of anyone in Canada doing reamer work, send it back to the manufacturer, assuming it is identified

take it to your local machine shop and they will very likely be able to resharpen it for you

If it's chipped, it may not be repairable.

It's not chipped but more like severely worn in the first .100" of the flutes. It was either pushed in way too hard or not cleaned out enough and chips built up at the front edge and smeared the front portion of the flutes. I think it would need to be ground back a bit to get rid of the damaged portion.

I would send it to Manson or JGR to be repaired.

Might not be worth it.

From the info in your original post, I was thinking wear or maybe a chip, this one sounds to be abused.

Sometimes you just have to let them go.

I had to trash a 270 Win reamer last fall, which came in a trade. I should have looked at it closer.

I think JGS charges up to 75% for a complete regrind if required but less for a light touch up, call them they and Manson I like very much,
I have delt with Clymer and JGS the longest.

Better off to just buy a new reamer!.....:)
Ayup.

Best case, is that it becomes useful for someone that wants to cut a ".45 Short".

There really isn't a way to recover an "all buggered up" reamer back to original size.

You have two basic choices. Scrap it, or clean it up enough to use as a roughing reamer, to save wear on the finish reamer.
