Hey guys...I know this is kind of a crappy target (Champion .22 automatic resetting target), but hey, it actually is alot of fun. Canadian tire has these things ($40 - yikes!) and they basically consist of 4 little swinging diamond plates, with a long rod positioned just above them. When you shoot the little diamond plates, they flip up on to the rod...when all 4 plates are up, you shoot the top target, causing the rod to swing out of the way, and release the little plates. There probably isn't more than $10-$15 worth of metal -it's a small target), but hell, it does work. I've spent 3 different sessions of 2 hours each just plinking away at these things in the back field (with my Lakefield rifle). My wife likes, my father in law likes it and so does everyone else. Cheap fun really...and now that I have a design that works, I can make more myself  If your looking for a relatively cheap target that lasts and is fun, might be worth your while. I've already had to repaint the plates as the orange stickers on them have long since "disappeared".

I noticed them at Crappy Tire the other day and was wondering what they were like. Thanks for the info.

I've got a similar one, I think it's made by Birchwood Casey. I paid $55 plus taxes and seen them for $69 so $40 is great.
I haven't seen them at CTC - I'll have to take a look.

They aren't as easy to make as you would think. Welds don't hold up - they always crack. The steel is pretty hard - ordinary mild steel bends quickly.

I have the exact same target and love it. There aren't any welds per say as the targets are a piece of steel that is twisted...so its one piece that spins. I shoot mine at 100 yards and the only negative thing I have to say is the steel isn't all that strong. I put 500 rounds into mine, and two of the target diamonds are bent. Not to the point of being unshootable, but they will soon have to be bent back straight. Absolutely great fun. It's also great to see Canadian Tire carrying such products.
