Doesn't really matter what it looks like cause it was a b!+ch to put on! So it ain't coming off! :p

I was tired of the Tapco "lego block" handguard, as I call it. So I put the black synthetic one on it that originally came with my Monte Carlo stock.

I was surprised at how heavy the Tapco handguard actually was. The front of the rifle is a bit lighter now. I didn't think it would make that much difference, but the black ATI one is light as a feather so I guess so.

I think it looks good, takes some flare off the stock and makes it look more streamline and less of that overly boxy plastic look.

I learned from experience that the best option is to simply stain the wood handguard black and oil finish it. The plastic ones fit like total crap. The ATI stocks themselves are very good though.

Yeah, that's my garage 4x12. I own a number of high gain amps and cabinets. Been playing and collecting for close to 18 years. I can send you a pic via pm of my wall of amps if your interested.

I did this with my ATI stock actually. The Russian handgaurd pin wasn't coming out, and I didn't want to mar it up or paint a numbers matching part. So instead I bought a Chinese wood handgaurd for $20 from Lever Arms and painted it flat black. Looks good. I didn't oil finish it though? Should I?
