As reported in the new Outdoor Edge magazine, SK has changed the requirements for hunters wearing colors during an open rifle season.

The new regs require only hunting colors from the waist up. The colors have not changed, being orange, red, white or florescent yellow for upper body, and any of the colors except white for a hat.

Apparently they changed this rule after the synopsis was printed.

I don't know about anyone else, but it's not going to change the way I dress for the bush.

Anyone cut the legs off of their coveralls yet???

The local paper here in Weyburn has the CO write a weekly article and he mentioned that rule change for the upcoming hunting season. I don't think it is gonna change a whole lot for most people esp the ones who wear coveralls anyhow.Myself I always have worn a 2 piece outfit so I think it is great !!!!

I think it is great, I like wearing the 2 piece suits anyway so it might be kind of nice to just wear some good quality camo pants. Of course in the late deer season I will be wearing the white as usual. This hunting suit thing didn't really make sence anyway. You could wear white in winter during deer season when the most hunters are out but no camo during early big game but you could wear a red that at dusk is almost black?? Anyway, I am in favor!!:)

I agree never made a lot of sense to me either. Mistakes don't have a colour preferences!! We (our hunting crew) think that a requirement of only blaze orange headwear would be both acceptable and as effective interms of visibilty/safety.

I also wear 2 peices, but the only time I can see the new changes being a bonus is during the elk or early moose season when it is really wet. While I have a yellow rainsuit it isn't very breathable nor is it quiet like some of my non coloured garments.

Oh well it is a step. I would have much rather seen them add sunday hunting given the choice:eek:!

Rain on your picnic?

Don't like to rub it in, but BC has NEVER had any color of garmet rules for hunting.
And while we're at it, BC has NEVER had any law restricting hunting on a Sunday!

Saskatchewan Hunting

Don't get me started on B.C. :puke:

Just kidding, we all have our good and bad:rockOn:

Talking about Sk hunting always makes me a bit homesick. I grew up in the boondocks of Sask, N/W of Nipawin, actully N/W of Love. As a teenager I shot four whitetail deer and a bull moose. This was so long ago that we paid no attention to the rules! Hunting season opened on the first morning there was snow on the ground!! I could walk right out the house door and be hunting whitetail in less than ten minutes. I have never had that type of hunting since leaving Saskatchewan, nor have I ever had wild game that tasted as good!

I hear ya brother ;) we are all very lucky b.c. , sask. where ever. I guess for some of us that don't have the time or fortune to travel and hunt we are always a little envious (not sure if I spelled that right?) of what people in other places have. Grass is always greener! I wish I could go to b.c. and hunt moose and caribou but am glad I can hunt here for big whitetail, goats, mules, geese or what ever. I live near P.A. and really enjoy the archery only whitetail zone. Now my nephew is 14 and just starting archery so I have a new excited hunting partner. It would be nice to be filthy rich and have connections all over the world and just HUNT:runaway:

I was always a bit amused at the hunters who griped about wearing colours in the woods. Safe or not, accidents will happen. To my mind, wearing colours above the waist, not counting the hat, has more to do with making the fish cops' job easier. They won't bother Farmer John if he is wearing his usual farm clothes, but concentrate on the half-ton with three guys dressed like hunters. As for me, I like being visible and will keep using the one-piece coveralls I got for last season.

I have the same attitude; I like the high visibility of blaze orange....whether it's for other hunters (or hunting partners) spotting me more easily or if I was to need help/get hurt...it's nothing but a good idea I don't care how it looks. :D Plus, I've gotten w/i spitting distance of deer quite a few times so I don't think it's a hindrance there either.

See you out there in my clown costume!
