Changing AR registration to receiver only?

Looking to strip down my Bushmaster AR and move the parts to an MRA renegade. Just wondering if anyone here has been able to change their registration to receiver only for the AR or is that even required any longer since technically the certs are voided? Just wondering if this is even possible now post May 1 2020 and if we are going to get in a #### heap of trouble when they come knocking asking for a complete rifle to get turned in and all that’s left is a receiver.

Thanks

Not sure call and see

many of us will be in that same boat I had many lowers and uppers and swapped them around all the time when the music stopped i had lowers without uppers. back then the CFC was NOT interested in changing my certs to reflect what upper was on it as the class didnt change

I think there are differing opinions on this the certificate said you had to notify if changing a receiver into a working firearm but not the other way around. It did say you had to notify if changing the calibre. But to me removing the barrel is not changing the calibre unless you put on a different calibre barrel. You are changing the rifle but not the calibre. But either way the certificate is void

It's very likely too late. I was able to sneak mine in about a month after the ban with the explanation that I hadn't known about it(lie). It was quite a long process of mostly being on hold and they clearly didn't want to do it, but it was done. At this point I very much doubt that favor would be done for anyone but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Your AR registration was revoked, and you should have filed an s74 challenge long ago.

Nullified, and state one case that was actually successful in their s74 challenge?

Good for those that challenged but they didn't get anywhere with any of the challenges? The game is rigged, anyone who actually plays and thinks otherwise is delusional.

Many of us are still in court. Revoked. Nullified is semantics for revoked, since nullification isn't outlined in the firearms act, but revocation is.

Just strip the thing and go on with it. What are they going to do? There is no penalty for an incorrect registration certificate. Not that many were correct to begin with.

:agree: Just tell them you stripped the prohibited rifle apart and sold off the non-controlled parts (everything except the stripped upper and lower). Selling uncontrolled parts is not an offence.

i tried during the oic and it was not feasible possible within the 30 days ... when i did my atipp it is mentionned in my file that i tried to kept the receiver only ...

Anyone can say they stripped the lower and called it in within 30 days. The fact that they refused to send you an updated reg cert is their problem.

I did it within the 30 days, the CFC woman was fine with it. Which means nothing of course, they didn't update the registration.

Why? There is ZERO requirement to tell CFC you stripped a gun down to its component parts. The only controlled part is the receiver and that has not changed. There is ZERO requirement for a stripped receiver to be registered as a receiver only.

There is ZERO chance anyone is getting in trouble for having only a bare receiver. It has never happened and there is no legal mechanism for it to happen. The people who think it will happen are spineless ninnies whoo fundamentally do not understand the law.

Correct and correct.

You didn't sneak anything in because there was no requirement to do so and it doesn't mean anything anyway.

CORRECT

May 2020 when I called to inform them that all mine were receiver only they didn't care as they were now prohib and refused to issue new reg certs.

that is the point you informed them about the change and they did not issue a new cert. it is written in my file as well that i requested a new cert and they will not issue a new one. despite contacting within the 30 days.

At the least it didn't hurt to have the information they have changed in such a way. Regardless of whatever they aren't getting a single thing. I had a direct answer to the question asked and your opinion doesn't matter.

Thanks everyone just wanted to make sure. The certificates has a barrel length on them I believe so wasn’t sure if removing the barrel would cause the owner to have to change it to change registration but I guess not if the cert is void anyways
