Was just thinking... I am in want/need of another bolt action 223 and I have that 308 SA rem700 listed in the EE right now.... would it be feasible/easy/cheap to swap out the 308 barrel for a 223 barrel ?
The bolt would also have to be changed, and there are detail differences in the feed rails of the receivers used for .308 and .223 sized cartridges. Your rifle could be easily converted to .22-.250 though, with only a barrel change.
NOPE. Better off buying a rifle ready to go. Of course, the least expensive way to get a shooter is a Stevens 200 in 223. Rem SPS would be next.
Bolts are very difficult to find and expensive. Barrels plus install will not be that far from the cost of a complete Stevens. You will still need to get mag and follower and hope the thing feeds.
