Changing cooey bolt, headspacing?

Bolts were individually fitted. Brand new bolts must be fitted. A used bolt might or might not have correct headspace. If the fit is too loose, there is the risk of a blown casehead.

Throw the dice... Some Cooey bolts "drop right in" and, some don't. Even if it does drop right in, doesn't mean additional fitting isn't required.

Some shops/folks won't sell a bolt to you or, I. Only sold to gunsmiths for final fitting.

Head space on any firearm can be an issue. For every "Check the headspace" post count in all these forums, this is a truly valid one! Fitting a new/different bolt (ESP used gun to used gun) is a "serious" deal.

Doesn't mean you can't give it a go. Cooeys are "friendly" guns as, the locking function is the bolt handle- receiver cut relation.

I've had a few Cooeys with identical looking bolts that wouldn't interchange but, one pair that will.
