Hey all,

Just received my first rifle (bought on CGN of course!) and need to install the replacement rear sights I received with it (as the original were broken).

I know I can get the dove tail out by sliding it off, but not sure how to replace the sights as I haven't been able to find anything about it online or in the manual.

Any tips? Thanks!

I have a marlin 795, which was my first rifle as well. :)

At the time I bought it, I was under the impression that it and the model 60 were pretty much the same except for one had a tube mag and the other had a detachable mag.

Looking at your rear sight seems to support that idea, but I couldn't swear to it. If they are the same, it would appear the replacement parts are from a different model. Once again, don't take my word for it, just look into it.

There are two pieces for this type of sight. One is the dovetail piece that is long and made of spring metal, with the rear sight blade attached at the far end. The other piece fits through the groove in the center of the first piece, and is held between it and the barrel by the spring pressure in the dovetail piece. It has notches in it to push the spring metal up to different heights, allowing you to adjust the height of the rear sight.

The notched piece is similar to the one at the top of your parts picture, but the one you show looks more like the one on my marlin lever gun. I think there has been an error in the parts supplied. You can confirm it by talking to the extremely knowledgeable folks at rimfirecentral.com, or Marlin themselves.

Hope this helps. :)
