Changing shotgun barrels? Mossberg 870 express mag reciever + reg 870 barrel?

Sighhh, another naive and probably stupid question from me to the forum.

Ah well.

In looking at the remington 870's, mossbergs and winchesters, there appear to be a LOT of kinds of barrels, some guns even coming with sets of different barrels...

How difficult is it to change barrels in a shotgun? If I were to get a long barreled 870 super magnum for geese, could I easily and cheeply rebarrel it to a short barreled bush gun? I know the barrels themselves are expensive, but can the rebarreling itself be done with some basic tools and skill? If it's necessary to go to a gunsmith, is it going to be more cost effective to just buy a new gun?

Thanks!

Rebarreling an 870 takes about 15 seconds. Undo the mag cap, open the bolt, slide off the barrel - replacement is the reverse!

An 870 is a VERY versatile shooter - you can have a 30" barrel for geese, and swap out a 14" for bear defence and range blasting. Or a 20" rifled barrel and whack a deer!

Of course, you COULD just buy another gun... that's what I always seem to do. I'm up to six 870's myself, in different configs. I have an addiction...

I can't speak for Mossbergs or Winchesters but the 870 couldn't be easier.

Changing a tire is harder.

Put the slide in the "half" position, remove magazine cap, give the barrel a slight twist and pull and it's off.

as stated, the 870's are a snap.

mossberg and maverick barrels are just as easy, follow the same steps as the remmington, just unscrew the cap at the end of the magazine tube, open the action and remove it by pulling straight up.

Shotguns (other than semi-automatics) are pretty much the most simple gun out there. Changing barrels is super easy on most of them.

You can purchase Remington 870 two and three barrel combos (i.e. 30" water foul, 21" or 23" (I can't remember which) turkey barrel, and / or a rifled deer barrel. This might be a good solution for you.

Browning A5 comes off and replaces easily too.

Wish I could find an affordable tubed barrel for my 1964.

A slightly different question on the same line - are remington 870 express magnum barrels interchangeable with regular 870 barrels? I'd assume that the cartridge capability would be different, but would the regular 870 barrel fit in a express magnum reciever?
