I'm new to reloading, and I'm shopping around right know trying to decide what to buy. I've pretty much settled on RCBS equipment, and I was going to buy the Rock chucker starter set.

But then I got thinking I should just buy the charge master set with a rockchucker press, which gives you the scale and the powder dispenser. I hate wasting money on equipment that I cheaped out on. Should I just skip the starter kit and get into the electronic stuff? I will be primarily loading .223 and .243 in large quantity's.

Chargemaster, Trim Mate Case Prep Center and RCBS Jr press are what I have along with an RCBS 5-10 scale as backup so I can load when the power is out. Although I am currently using my Lee Challenger until I move my #### back into the garage for the summer.

buy it. you will not be sorry.... the only drawback I found is that if you have buddies who also reload, all it takes is for them to see it work once, and suddenly you have more friends than you need!!

ok guys thanks for talking me into it. I didn't want to learn how to use a powder dispenser and a beam scale anyway. Just push the button, no screw ups. Price is pretty stiff in Canada, looks like about $450. I'm going to order from south of the border.

Case Prep center for flash hole cleaning and chamfering after trimming is a huge time saver. The timeliest part of the whole reloading procedure (for me) is the trimming and cleaning. I have yet to use anything faster than the Sinclair/Wilson Trimmer (ie.. I have not tried a Giraud or any of the other electric trimmers) for trimming but before I got the Case Mate I was using the Lee Primer Pocket cleaner which was slow and gave me hand cramps, as did the manual chamfer tool. Even if I trimmed and chamfered using the drill it was still painfully slow and I still had to clean the primer pockets after that. Now I can do the trimming while watching TV and then take the cases down to the garage and do the primer pocket cleaning and chamfering in no time.
