I have a great 455 Super Match, and am wondering about the advantages of installing it in a chassis. Which one and why or why not. I think there is a lot of interest.

Not that much interest it seems. LOL

No longer open to "influencers"; ordered a MDT Oryx Chassis last night.

I have found that a chassis is good tool for the job of precision shooting not off the bench. I have an Oryx on a Center fire rifle and it works well. A nearly vertical pistol grip puts my hand at a much more comfortable angle than a classic stock. I’m a sucker for beautifully finished walnut and deep blueing to look at though.

Thanks for the feed-back! I too am a sucker for nice wood; the wood the barreled action is currently in is not so nice; dark brown lacquered beech with a cracked and repaired tang. Oryx has changable panels; I ordered FDE, but I do have some rather nice walnut plank, and I may make some panels for it. Best of both worlds.

mdt xrs chassis. Replaced the oem thumbhole stock. Love it.
Only downside is the mag releas is partially hidden behind the mag well of the chassis. Requires using fingernail to use it.

Hehe, I am interested in seeing what people have to say, I'm in the market for a chassis myself, never had one before but looking to setup a 457 as a PRS rig.

I almost bought a 455 with the plan of sticking it in a KRG 180-X-Ray chassis.
It's a discontinued product now but there are still some kicking around dealer shelves.

I had an American and a Varminter. Both were pillar bedded by a gunsmith and showed great improvement.
Sold the Varminter to finance an Anschutz and gave the American to my daughter.
Both were modified with YoDave kits.
Great rifles . . . you could put them in your wills!

I have a 455 in a MDT ACC chassis. I found that metal chassis have less contact with the action versus a bedded stock stock so you have to play with the action screw torque more. Maybe it’s because the point loads.

I agree, I wish I could have kept all that I have owned.

I have been reading, and a couple guys say that 30 inch lbs. is a good starting point. What are your thoughts?

I need more time to test this one but I usually start at 30 in-lb. Been shooting the 457 in a XRS more and more. For some reason the 457 doesn’t seem to be sensitive to action screw torquing as much.

There seems to be not a lot of info out there when it comes to these in the 455; a bit more with the 457. The mag release was one thing I was wondering about. I may have to buy one of these. https://mdttac.ca/cz-452-455-457-extended-mag-latch-and-spacer-kit/

i've got medium sized hands and need to use the tip of my finger/finger nail to hit the covered oem mag release, if you got big beefy hands it would be very difficult to hit the release. Problem with some extended releases is they state not to be used with 10rd mags.

Interesting; I may need to explore building my own release. They don't seem to be too complex at all.

Well, the Oryx Chassis I ordered from MDT arrived sooner than expected, and their shipping was super reasonable! I was out of the country for a few days and it was waiting for me when I got home.

My hat is off to their designer, the fit between the aluminum and plastic components is very impressive. When I installed the barreled action it fit right in. The factory interface between the CZ stock and action is built for easy assembly but leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to "bedding". Once you put the action screws in the action is secured with nowhere to move.

I was a bit concerned about the mag and mage release access, but it is actually a heck of an improvement over the original. Tonight, I get the torque wrench out to have it range ready. LOP was similar to the 455 so for me, no need for more spacers., Cheak riser has plenty of adjustment for the tallest mounts, but with my rig, moved it up about 3/16". I can't wait to get it out shooting!!

I will be starting a new thread with photos once I get it to the range.
