cheap 7.62 nato/ .308 win

im sure this has been addressed before....but where does one find cheap .308 for an m14? i want to make sure its not corrosive. Districorp has some for $320 for 1000 or $64 for 200 rds but its 1978 portuguise (fnm)...is this a good price...and can i belive them that its non-corrosive? thanks guys!
 
platnumbob, I just picked up 200 rounds of the stuff from Districorp. I'd like to know the same thing... Corrosive or not? And IF it is corrosive, HOW do I disassemble the M14 gas system to properly clean it?

No, not corosive. I have shot over 160 rds in my Rem 7600. Pretty good stuff if you ask me. I did have one miss-fire though, but for the price I'm happy :)

I'm guessing it's Norinco, which I'm told isn't that bad for 7.62x51.

Does anyone know if CanAm was planning on bringing some in? I thought he was...

Anyway Platnumbob, if you do find a source, we'll double our order to get a better price and stock up...
 
Has anyone used or heard of NGA 7.62x51 headstamped H0 7.62 and H1 7.62 it comes in a plain box of 20. I believe the guy at the counter said it was next gen south aferican. He couldn't tell me if it was non-corrosive or corrosive.
 
Is that the Norinco stuff? I got some in a green box from P and D in Edmonton and it shot fine. It was dirtier than the Port stuff and I think the Port performed a bit better than it. They were roughly the same price though.
 
I like both the Norc (from lever) and the Port. I believe the Port is actually match ammo, it shoots VERY well. The norc stuff is a bit dirty but shoots pretty well too.

The stuff head stamped H0 7.62 and H1 7.62 is Hirtenberger? Everyone says this is good stuff but I have found it to be next to useless. Very very inaccurate, but no missfires so if you're just busting pop can up close I guess it would be okay. Personally I won't touch again.

I also tried some kiwi ammo that Milarm had, it was also very good.
 
I bought 1040 from lever arms. the norc stuff in the green box. It's great for plinking. I even shoot it out my bolt action. It's measurements aren't exactly .308win so it does need a little bit of coaxing to get into the bolt actions, but for semi's it'll work just fine!
