:?: Any ideas as to a cheap entry level 9mm pistol for my wife? She likes my Glock and prefers a smaller grip. Maybe a 1911 varient? She also would like to shoot production. Maybe a Norc copy?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
Hoddie.

You can't shoot Production with a 1911 type.

The CZ is probably the cheapest of the bunch to start with and a nice gun as well.

Where's the "none of the above" option?!?! I see no Sig P226, HK USP, Beretta 92 Elite, CZ IPSC...???????????????????

Well, everything you've mentioned here is $1200 and up.

This isn't actually cheap.

Get a used G17.

226 factory reconditioned only go for $850+tax.

I guess you don`t watch the for sale section .There are plenty of deals on these gun under $1000 .

Depending on the woman , I might suggest a Glock G21 .
In IPSC production class there is no major /minor power factor to deal with . You only need to make minor . :)
A 9MM kind of "cracks" in recoil . The .45 pushes in recoil .
My wife has small weak wrists and small hands , she couldn't fire the G21 with factory ammo. :(
I came up with a load that's about 160 power factor and she can now shoot non stop and hit everything with it with no pain or discomfort . :D
With further testing I think I will be able to lower the power factor a bit more yet and gain even better results . 8)
Now I just have to figure out how to get her to shoot at a match .
Just my .02 cents

I had selected the P-series from the poll (that's my gun and I love it) but realized she needs a small grip. Something the P-series definately does NOT have.

As much as I hate Glocks, I would say "Glock". Simple to operate, cheap to fix and modify...

I think a glock will be to snappy in the wrists for her

I think the CZ is the way to go.
it's relatively cheap. its a very well made gun. It's pretty accurate.
It's heavier than a Glock and will be less snappy in the wrists
it's a single action & trigger is not too bad, don't know if they now come with lighter triggers than before.

The norinco knock off might be o.k., but I wouldn't put it in front of a CZ
I like the ruger 6 guns, but not a big fan of the semi-autos
Sigs are double action on the first pull (i think) and little pricy

I'm not familiar with all production rules, i think the CZ will be allowed

But, if want to upgrade to standard one day, than the glock is a good choice, cause you can modify it pretty good to be a descent std. gun
but probably can do the same to the CZ

hope I've helped and not confused you :)

Why don’t you just give her your G17 and you can buy yourself something new? Something that will put you into major and standard since there aren’t many people shooting production out here (you were the only one last Sunday I believe).
