Looked at a few other stores for cheap tool cases but none came with the pull apart foam in it. This one comes with a full piece.

Just need to figure out how I'm going to lay it out. Anyone already have one similar set up that they care to share a few pics of.

I was thinking of adding a cheap latch to allow a simple padlock. That way I use one of the set that I have that are all the same key?
I got 2of the same about 6 months ago on sale aluminum was darker but same, I am going to put some kind of better locking system on them for sure. Still looking for something that's not to ugly but sturdy! Guess its no good to go to overboard with it cause the case itself will be the weakest link by far! They are nice for the money and very adaptable.

I have had one for a couple of months now and I still cannot decide how to lay it out. I have too many guns that I may be taking to the range to fit in this one box so do I configure it for 2 or 3 and only use it for those or should I do something generic so I can take different guns at different times. As it is right now, I just lay the guns on the foam without pulling any of it out to configure to a gun. I will be looking to see what you guys come up with.

As for locking - as was mentioned - the case will be the weak link. Any of those old pointy can openers or even a sharp knife can gain access. As per normal, the locks are only for keeping the honest people honest.

looks like a decent deal, so it has room for 2 full size pistols + like 6 mags about? If you take the foam out, what do you replace it with? Or are you just cutting out spots for your pistols in the foam.

I started that way but finally decided to spend a little more and get the following at Basspro and relagating the tool kits to parts storage.

h ttp://www.basspro.com/Boyt-Tactical-HSeries-Double-Handgun-Case/product/120810/

This case is built like a tank has airpressure control like Pelican at half the price and the layered foam clamps down on ANY gun firmly so you can change guns without picking the foam out to fit. Has (2) locking areas that is reinforced with metal.. did I say this is tough?

The only negative is that it's heavier than the aluminimum cases.

And it ships now for $6.00 bucks..

A shot showing the size:

The foam is chopped up and you pull out the pieces as you need to fit your uses.

Get rid of those black steel tabs at the bottom of the lid. They can scratch your guns. I layered news paper under the bottom foam to help secure the guns more tightly.

I've got three pistols in a row in mine,.... Cut in like you hold them with mags to the side.... Was pretty simple with exacto knife... I'll post pics when I figure it out...
The hardest thing was removing the great big sticker on the side

I puckled them out with the shape of my gun then i took another piece of foam that i cut the size of the hole. (Made two stack) The result is kinda nice and my gun are protected. I also made some mag pouches on the top panel by removing middle sewing. I add a layer of foam between the top panel and the gun while transporting.
