Cheap Cast Iron Dutch Ovens in Edmonton

Hi all,
I thought I'd pass this info along in case anyone else can make use of it.

The Army & Navy store at 104 St. & Whyte Ave. has 4 litre cast iron dutch ovens for sale in the downstairs kitchenware area.

These are a very substantial cast iron pot with a dead-flat bottom and a sturdy wire bail handle, as well as a cast iron lid. They would be excellent for melting lead in larger quantities.

A&N's price is quite good - I have seen similar pots on sale in camping suppliers for $55 - $75, although the casting quality and finish on these seems better than most.

Seems almost a shame to use one for melting lead. They had about 2 dozen on hand earlier this week.

How thick is the 'iron'? Just curious.
Use my cooking pots to melt lead and you'd get brained with it. snicker.

Huh, I must have been misinformed. I was told a dutch oven was something completely different.

Dutch Oven=Big cooking pot, I was suprised when I was told by my foods teacher back in grade 9

"...Dutch Oven=Big cooking pot..." Big, thick, iron, cooking pot with legs and a tight fitting, recessed top, lid. You can bake over an open fire with a good one. Has to be seasoned too.
