Cheap centerfire for fun

Thanks for that. Ill keep them in mind for ammo for sure then once I find all these magical sales everyone keeps talking about. ah well gotta find a place to shoot anyways so a gun with no range is useless when you don't hunt

Often you can find the prices I have quoted at gun shows, people sometimes don't ask much more than they paid a few years ago. It keeps the prices down :)

If you are planning on getting a 22lr I highly suggest the marlin 795. Cabela's had good sale for them once upon a time.

Yes, I agree, the Marlin 795 is a great little 22LR plinker.

In fact, I had it at the cottage last weekend and had the opportunity to show a long-time friend how to shoot it.

Not much else cheaper or more "bang" for the buck than an SKS. The rifles are the among the lowest priced centerfires available and there is still a lot of surplus ammo available for reasonable prices. Not the greatest trigger in the world but will hit torso targets at 100+ yards. A cheap but accurate rimfire, like a marlin 795 is the only other one that can compare from a cost perspective.

I was looking at the savage mk2 and the Marlin xt-22. how comparable would the xt-22 be with the 795. was really wanting the bolt action on the .22 to get marksmanship going. Start with iron sights and go from there
