20 ga is almost as good as a 12 in most hunting situations, a bit of a disadvantage with steel shot.

Recoil issue pretty much puts you into a semi-auto. I have a Mossberg 590a1 pump, and the recoil on it is twice the recoil (feels like it anyway) than my Remington Versa Max semi, which I love to shoot. Lower recoil shells may also help, remember that usually, the smaller and lighter the gun is, you typically have more recoil.

we have a few Youth models around here. I sure do like them. Especially the 20 ga.
My sons and a buddy were shooting skeet yesterday. They said our Italian over & under 12 ga, even with 2 3/4 was a mule. It's a 3 inch. I keep it handy for overhead goose jerky donors this time of year.

Actually it's called the Micro Midas line. Many choices. Perhaps search for second hand to minimize your costs.
