I am thinking of buying / putting together an open gun for ipsc but want to keep the price under $2000. Any suggestions or advice? I've been looking around but everything I come across is out of my price range. I don't want to blow the bank on it since I plan on continuing to shoot production more than open, but thought it would be fun to try.

Thanks

Lol up until you try the open gun!
See if Rouge River still has the used ooen gun on hand. It was a .38 super on a caspian frame built by Paul Barette

Why? If you can't afford something decent don't bother unless it's cause of poor eyesight.

I don't think "cheap" and open gun belong in the same sentence! If you want something under 2000.00, you are going to end up with a used gun.

Now keep in mind that open is just a division so you could actually use a production pistol in that division no problem. You would just be at a disadvantage! If you want a properly built new Open gun, you are probably looking at 3-4 K to get one + taxes and accessories.

I run a Czechmate which run around 3400-3600 and the other gun to look at would be the Tanfoglios or STI's. They come right from the factory ready to go. Freedom Ventures has the Tanfoglios and STI's. Take a look at their site.

If you want someone to build you a gun from scratch, then the sky's the limit for what you want to spend or the platform you start with. If cost is a big concern, go with 9mm as the brass is much cheaper!

Keep shooting your Glock and pull mags from pouches or pockets in front of your hip bone....

Just picked this up to play around in open division, was under 2000 with 6 mags. It's in great shape and shoots tight groups. (well in a pros hands anyways....)

Beware of the deal, cheap open guns have usually been run hard for lots of rounds and they're for sale for a reason.
I know of a few guys who went for the deal only to find out the gun was screwed, in my case a cracked slide and frame...
Good deals can be had but beware; quality kit is expensive and if a deal looks too good to be true it probably isn't.

if you can shoot a glock and don't bother what the others are saying you can go like this
zev ultimate trigger 300$
magwell 100$ for the brass but can go with plastic for cheaper
barrel plus comp from craver 400$
scope mount from carver 130$
and scope-cmore -350
so 300+100+400+130+350= 1280$
price of a used glock 700$
around 200$ if you can DIY
most of the stuff are not available in canada
so you better go with a new STI turbore around 3K
