I put in an absentee bid at the last Switzer's auction for a T-bolt. I went low and figured I didn't have a chance. Then I found that I had won the bid and real cheap. Then I was really worried - what piece of crap had I just bought.
When it came in the mail it had next to no finish on the wood, just patches of varnish. The bluing was good but there was rust at the wood line.
I stripped the remaining finish and put on about 8 coats of tung oil. Needs a few more coats to finish filling the pores.
I cleaned the rust with some 0000 steel wool and Hoppes. Used some 400 wet/dry on the worst of the rust. Then some cold blue.
Mounted an old Weaver 10X scope with AO for that correct look.
Not a bad shooter, never be a collector.
